If you want to help make sure everyone is able to Pay the Rent AND Feed the Kids you can:
Current News and Events: Help Raise the Issues with the Candidates! In anticipation of an upcoming provincial election we are collecting names of people who would like to raise the issues at all candidates' meetings in their neighbourhood. We want to make sure that every provincial candidate gets the message -- it's time to raise social assistance rates to meet the cost of living! The Coalition is producing an 'Ask the Candidates' question card as a resource for use at election time. If you would like to raise the issues at local all candidates' meetings in your neighbourhood, please contact Beth Wilson with your name, address or provincial riding, phone number and email address (if applicable) at the Community Social Planning Council of Toronto, 416-351-0095 x257, bwilson@cspc.toronto.on.ca. Keep writing and faxing letters to your local MPP! Politicians are most responsive to their constituents during the run-up to an election. We can have a tremendous effect on MPPs by making our voices heard NOW! This is especially important in Liberal ridings because they have yet to support the campaign. Let’s give them the push they need to get them on our side! Here’s what to do: • Have clients, friends, family members, colleagues and anyone else you can think of sign and date each letter, being sure to include addresses and postal codes so that your MPP knows you are their constituent. Collect as many letters as you can throughout the week, then fax them to your MPP’s constituency office each Friday morning. • For a sample letter e-mail Michael at michael@dailybread.ca. Find MPP address and fax numbers at http://www.ontla.on.ca/ Funds are Needed to Continue Our Work As election time draws near we want to ensure we have the capacity for effective public education and lobby for Pay the Rent and Feed the Kids. We are asking you to help us in this by making a donation. All campaign costs will be tracked and itemized and reported back to the membership. Individuals who donate more than $10.00 can receive a charitable tax receipt. We can accept donation by cheques and VISA, contact Loreen 416-203-0050, extention 238. Still Wanted
